“When you stand left alone and sorrowful
And can’t embrace the ones you once loved.
Your eyes get dim the wind roars and booms
Think of god’s love think you are his child.”

My mother wrote this in November 1934 in my autograph book. I was then eight years old and had received the book from my aunt and uncle. I didn’t understand the words as a child.

Only today, with age, has the meaning become apparent to me and I am always moved when I read these lines. During the long term of my illness and stay at the hospital my san had to dissolve my household. That’s when he found my autograph book dating 1934 and brought it to my great pleasure during one of his visits.

It is a lovely memory of many fine people and it has been accompanying me through most of my life.
